New Downhill Trail in Squamish
The Squamish woods have been filled with the music
of "Men at Work" lately.
Work has been steady on the new trail named "Half Nelson".
Thanks to the fantastic winter that we have been having, work
has been moving along at a "Dream's Pace". Completion
date is set for March of 2010 so you can look forward to spring
days on the new trail in the following months. Something else
to look forward to is the recently announced DH race in Squamish
on July 25th 2010. Watch carefully for announcements as this race
will have a cap on entries. This will be a history making event
that you won't want to miss. from Dwayne Kress, via the Facebook
Page Bike Squamish
More cool videos, including a few featuring Squamish
mountain biking (Credit Line, Squirrel, Nemesis) can be found

Test of Metal Sells Out 24:54
Test
of Metal's revamped registration system did not let us down this
year, processing about 24 entries per minute without a glitch.
The event sold out in just under 25 minutes. The website received
over 2,750 hits. Former MTB Champion Bruce Spicer was the final
entry purchased. The most distant entry was entered from Sweden.
There were quite a few local entries in spite of the December
'locals only' registration - this is healthy for the event - local
riders bring local spectators and local volunteers ensuring the
health and success of The Canadian Epic. www.testofmetal.com
Locals Only Registration sells out
By Test of Metal standards, the pace was almost
leisurely.
The locals-only registration period, which is open to residents
living from from Furry Creek to Darcy, closed at 8:59 pm when
all 200 reserved spaces were filled, almost three hours after
opening. Read

Check out the Sea to Sky Trail website
The vision of a trail connecting the communities
of the Sea to Sky Corridor, from Squamish to D'Arcy, has long
held the imaginations of the residents of this region. This 180
kilometre, non-motorized, multi-use trail is being built right
now for everyone to enjoy. The trail is optimized for mountain
bikes and will provide you with a full outdoor experience of the

Trail Maintenance and Closures notices
What do Pseudostugaand
Dead End Loop have in common? They're both closed. Please
be sure to check our Trail Updates section on a regular basis
- indeed, before you set out on the weekend is your best action!
SORCA has begun serious trail work and upgrades in a variety of
areas. This from their website: " Work has been started on
the new “Half Nelson Trail’ which is located in the
vicinity of Recycle and Angry Midget; so be aware that there is
equipment operating in this area; and no the trail is not ready
for riding. Expansive tail maintenance will also be occurring
from now until snowfall on a variety of trails. Please use appropriate
caution when riding these trails."
IMB: International Mountain Bike
Magazine - Issue 3 now online
OK,
you're in for a treat. A new online mtb mag full of high gloss
ads and articles and some great photos but this mag is more than
just another pretty face. You're looking at an Ellsworth ad? And
suddently a window right on the ad comes alive revealing a sort
film on Ellsworth bikes, where they're made, etc. Cool. You're
reading an interview with Martyn Ashton and at bottom right is
a little button saying 'play me' - you do it and watch Ashton
in action. But my favourite section is Bike Tech and each article
has a little video demonstrating what is being taught. How cool
is that? There are lots of other screen controls - fidgets and
fun things to discover. IMB will be published online every two
months. You can view it by clicking here http://www.imbikemag.com
SORCA Director Barry McLane Thanks
Ticket 2 Ride
On
the NSMB Forum's Barry posts a heartfelt thankyou: This year in
Squamish we accomplished more trail maintenance and construction
that ever before. Lots of reasons for this, more builders coming
to town, more general stoke, and more commitment.
Ticket 2 Ride has to be acknowledged for their commitment
to the Squamish trails this year. The crew put back more than
300 hours into our trail network, both through showing up with
4-7 people (including guests sometimes!) to almost every SORCA
trail day, and through independent projects such as doing a great
job fixing up Don't Tell Jude.
THANK YOU guys, for stepping up as the guide company
most committed to our trails this year. Barry McLane
Ticket 2 Ride is a guided adventure mountain bike
holiday company providing multi-area/terrain riding experiences
in and around the legendary trails of Whistler and Squamish. www.ticket2ridebc.com
